After spending most of 2015 on the road, i suddenly found myself being asked to perform all manner of strange PARTIES in LA. I had been playing with various forms of dance music for a few years (early moog/loopstation/boss drum machine tapes are thankfully lost to the wheel of time) and had released some 12’s with ardent supporters Peak Oil but those recordings (& the shows that accompanied) were essentially one-off propositions, written programmed and performed in ways that were impossible to reproduce. Which is fine if you are playing at an art gallery under a bridge called cat nap, but under the rigors of a PARTY environment a wiggily synthesizer patch being tweaked over the course of 20 minutes wasn’t quite CUTTING IT. I needed a set I could play at 4am while deeply intoxicated and it had to be dancefloor functional. At the same time, the prevailing trends in dance music at that time were leaving me cold, no emotion no melody no beauty just endlessly pounding drum tracks with subbass. I wanted to create something that didn’t live in that grey universe. These tunes are the result of that, written to be endlessly jammable under the worst of circumstances, transcriptions rehearsals of dance music written for modular synthesizer & drum machine. I was inspired most by the minimally-voiced melodicism of Kraftwerk and the steely avant edges & driving rhythms of Detroit pioneers like Carl Craig, Terrence Dixon & the Belleville Three. This record is dedicated to all of them.

ALL PROCEEDS FROM THE SALE OF THIS ALBUM WILL BE USED IN PERPETUITY TO SUPPORT SOCIAL JUSTICE FUNDS SUPPORTING THE BLACK COMMUNITY & FIGHTING AGAINST POLICE BRUTALITY & RACIST INJUSTICE.
